It is the smallest lagoon in the Ebro Delta with 54 ha. However, its protection area includes 415 ha.The most common access is from L'Ampollaroad on the beach of "l'arenal". The road is cut to 200 meters from the lagoon, from where you have to continue walking to the observation hide. From here, you can follow the beach to the lagoon outlet channel. If you are interested in seabirds and waders, you can cross the channel and go another kilometer until the Goleró, the old mouth of the Ebro and now a drainage channel. The most representative environments that you can find are the coastal lagoon that is an interesting briny area between the beach and the lagoon, a well-established formation of fixed dunes and the Fangar Bay important for both the wintering seabirds and for the shellfish activities that are practiced there (mussel beds).
Moreover, from the observation hide is easy to see the Roquer. It is a cliff of 3 or 4 meters height that marks the ancient coastline, when there was no delta.
If you see some people inside the lagoon with some boats (pontoons), you must know that they are the San Pedro Fishermen's Society of Sant Carles de La Ràpita. There is also the Hunters Society of L'Ampolla that hunts in the modalities of free hunting, shot and the moon’s shot.
